We achieve sector top 20 in affordable housing growth
We are delighted to announce we have been ranked in the top 20 list of housing associations for growth in our delivery of affordable housing properties.
Using data from the Homes and Communities Agency’s Global Accounts from 2017, HQN, respected housing benchmarking company, devised a series of housebuilding charts, examining affordable housing units from over 235 developing social housing providers in the country.
We were ranked 19th in terms of percentage of new affordable housing units built against overall affordable housing units managed. In 2017, we built 296 new units, adding to our overall total of 8,525 affordable housing units. With an overall growth percentage of 3.47%, the charts help quantify our commitment to growing our affordable housing portfolio.
The accolade rounds off an excellent year for us. Inside Housing’s Top 50 Biggest Housing Association Builders survey in June saw us jump ten places from their 2016 position to be ranked number 29, whilst back in July 2017, 24Housing named us as one of the country’s Top 50 Landlords.
Keith Andrew, chair of the our Board of Trustees said: “I’m delighted our desire for growth as a social landlord has been recognised. We offer our residents high quality, affordable housing, aiming to ensure those who cannot afford to rent or buy privately have a home. It is our aim to build many more homes across Essex to help alleviate the housing crisis.”
We have an ambitious development programme for the future. In addition to affordable housing options including shared ownership, they also offer private sale homes, and aim to manage at least 10,000 properties by 2020.
