Success at the Essex Housing Awards 2024
We recently attended the 2024 Essex Housing Awards, an annual awards ceremony that celebrates all the very best in the housing sector from across the county. We had a really successful night and we’re incredibly proud of everyone’s achievements.
Mo Slade Rising Star Award
We’re especially delighted to share that Rosie O’Neill, Trainee Wet Trade Painter, won the Mo Slade Rising Star Award. This award recognises a young person or apprentice who has become a rising star within their organisation and makes a significant contribution to a housing project or service.
We nominated Rosie for constantly showing that she’s hardworking, as well as keen to learn and progress. She’s received compliments from customers and colleagues alike, with her college also commenting on her dedication. Rosie goes above and beyond in her work, volunteering for community events, advocating for women in construction, and promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry.
Housing and Development Professional of the Year
Rosie wasn’t our only individual success, as Vikki Barnes, Development Manager (New Homes), was highly commended for the Housing and Development Professional of the Year category. This award recognises people who have made a significant contribution to the housing industry and its customers. It looks for people who demonstrate an in-depth understanding and knowledge of housing, and someone who’s a role model and has personal integrity to help and support others.
We nominated Vikki for her practical, extensive knowledge of the housing sector which includes a thorough understanding of development, building contracts, and defects management.
Medium Housing Schemes
We’re also proud to share that our development at Brierley Paddocks in West Mersea was highly commended in the Medium Housing Schemes category. This award recognises medium-sized developments that make a substantial impact on housing needs while enhancing the perception of housing in Essex. Brierley Paddocks, our first development in Mersea, was thoughtfully designed to meet the specific housing demands of the area, creating quality homes that contribute to the community.
We're so pleased to have received this recognition and look forward to continuing our work in providing housing solutions that make a positive difference.
Meeting Housing Need
We were also highly commended by the judges in the Meeting Housing Need category. This category recognises organisations that have created innovative solutions to housing needs in Essex. It looks at how they’ve worked together to address challenges like homelessness and fuel poverty, and considers the outcomes achieved and the overall approach.
We’re grateful that we were recognised by the judges in this year’s Essex Housing Awards and we're proud of the work our colleagues do every day for our customers and each other. We’d like to say an extra well done to Rosie and Vicki, and we’re over the moon that their constant hard work has been recognised at such a prestigious event.
