New Year’s resolutions 2025: How we can help

alt=””

As we start a brand-new year, many of us are thinking about what we’d like to achieve or change in 2025. New Year’s resolutions are easily made but tend to be harder to stick to. To help you succeed, we’ve rounded up five of the most common New Year’s resolutions and outlined the ways in which we can help you achieve them.

Eat better

If eating healthier is your New Year's resolution for 2025,  why not sign up for cooking classes at the Hub? We offer free five-week courses that focus on nutrition and how to maintain a balanced diet, and you’ll create plenty of delicious meals to enjoy.

Email community@chp.org.uk or call 0300 555 0500 to book.

Plus, don't forget the Community Fridge at the Hub is available for customers and the local community to use. It’s restocked every week and is completely free. Pop in Monday to Thursday, 9am-4:30pm at the Parkside Community Hub, Melbourne Avenue, CM1 2DX.

If you have any unwanted food at home, don’t forget you can always donate it to the Community Fridge to help others too.

Achieve a career goal

If you want to develop your employment skills or find a new job this New Year, get in touch. We work closely with partner organisations such as Adult Community Learning (ACL), Steadfast Training, and Workers' Educational Association (WEA) to offer online training and courses. We can also signpost you to opportunities such as apprenticeships, and to organisations that can help you with your applications.

Call us on 0300 555 0500 or email community@chp.org.uk for more information.

Learn a new skill

Is your New Year's resolution to try your hand at a new skill, or take up a different hobby? Pop into the Hub to see what takes your fancy from our range of clubs and workshops.

We host seasonal craft workshops, cooking classes, a gardening club, a sew, knit and natter group, and more at the Hub.

All sessions are free to join, so it’s easy to learn something new, meet new people, and have some fun!

Check what’s coming up on the What’s on calendar, or pop into the Parkside Community Hub, Melbourne Avenue, CM1 2DX.

Budget better

Learning how to budget or manage your finances better is a popular New Year's resolution for many. If that's one of yours for 2025, get in touch.

We have a specialist team that can help you to maximise your income. This includes checking if you’re eligible for any benefits, helping you claim them, and even appeals.

We can also signpost you to where you can get support with budgeting and saving money.

Call 0300 555 0500 or email imt@chp.org.uk or mb-welfarebenefits@chp.org.uk for more information.

Improve health

Getting fitter or healthier is a very common New Year's resolution to make, but it's not always easy to know where to start. If you want to make your health and wellbeing a priority in 2025, we can support you.

We can help you access care and specialist organisations that can help you improve your health and wellbeing.

This includes support with:

  • Losing weight
  • Drug and alcohol problems
  • Stopping smoking
