About the proposed development
We aim to create a place that delivers multi-generational living for local people. We want to create a vibrant community in homes designed to meet the needs of our current and future customers, as well as delivering much needed affordable homes for local people.
Background and history
There’s a huge shortage of homes in the city and we want to increase the number of affordable homes available. We also know the homes at Andrews Place aren't suitable for the long term, so the redevelopment provides an opportunity to create new homes that provide more space, more light, and are cheaper and easier to run.
Design principles
We want to create a place that people are proud of, so we’re taking every opportunity to work with customers and the local community to shape the proposed design, look and feel of the new homes and surrounding green spaces.
We have incorporated a number of design principles throughout development:
- Green spaces – preserving established trees where possible, creating new green spaces, boosting bio-diversity and ensuring a sense of seamless integration with the park and local area.
- Dedicated Later Living homes – with flexible design solutions that help older people live independently.
- Customer and community involvement – from helping us to select the partners we work with, to providing feedback at consultation events, our approach sees local people play an active part in shaping the future of Andrews Place.
